Duties and Responsibilities:
This is a hands-on operational role working with a team of Greenkeepers to maintain and upgrade Carrington Estate Golf Course. Making significant improvements to the quality and upkeep of the course.
1. Develop and implement effective maintenance and agronomic programs that promote high-quality playing conditions and overall course appearance.
2. Monitor and adjust course maintenance practices, including mowing, fertilization, irrigation, and pest control, as necessary to maintain ideal playing conditions.
3. Supervise and lead a team of groundskeepers, ensuring assigned tasks are completed efficiently and meet required standards.
4. Develop and manage the maintenance budget, including monitoring expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining course quality.
5. Collaborate with other department heads to plan and execute golf course maintenance and improvement projects.
6. Implement strategies to enhance the sustainability and environmental practices of the golf course.
7. Conduct regular course inspections to identify and address issues, such as turf diseases, pests, irrigation malfunctions, and equipment performance.
8. Develop and enforce safety protocols, ensuring all staff members adhere to proper safety procedures and use personal protective equipment.
9. Manage the inventory of golf course maintenance supplies, equipment, and materials, and coordinate repairs and replacements as needed.
10. Maintain accurate records, such as maintenance logs, chemical application records, equipment inventory, and staff attendance and performance.
11. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in golf course maintenance and turf management.
12. Participate in the hiring, training, and performance evaluation processes for the groundskeeping team.
13. Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, open communication, and professional development among staff members.
