Turfgrass returns to the Gold Coast
The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre will be home to more than 1,000 delegates and trade industry representatives from June 22-27 for the annual
Australian Turfgrass Conference and Trade Exhibition.
This is the second time in four years that the conference ventures to the Gold Coast and comes off the back of the successful smaller regional conference
held at Novotel Twin Waters Resort on the Sunshine Coast in 2013.
The Australian Turfgrass Conference is run by the Australian Golf Course Superintendents Association (AGCSA) and the organisation’s events and education
manager Simone Staples is confident that this year’s event will have something for all delegates, regardless of which sector of the turf industry they
work in.
“The 30th Australian Turfgrass Conference and Trade Exhibition is once again focusing on giving delegates a constructive experience at the right price,”
says Ms Staples.
“Valuable, effective education, useful resources, important networking opportunities and value for money are all key components of the 2014 event.
“We have made a number of format changes this year which we hope delegates will enjoy. Successfully trialled in 2013, we will again host the 2014 Toro
AGCSA Golf Championships on the Sunday (22 June) which means we can continue with the popular Jacobsen-sponsored Monday workshops.
“This year will also see the Syngenta President’s Dinner and AGCSA Awards ceremony switched from its traditional end of conference timeslot to the start
of the week (Monday 23 June), with Everris sponsoring the newly added informal Farewell Bash on Thursday evening. Friday will see the Turf Tour coupled
with an afternoon golf event at RACV Royal Pines which will provide a fun and relaxed way in which to end the week.”
Forming the backbone of every Australian Turfgrass Conference is the impressive two-day trade exhibition. The exhibition is FREE to enter and runs from
9am-5pm Wednesday 25 June and 9am-2pm Thursday 26 June.
At the time of this edition of The Groundsman going to print, more than 60 companies had confirmed for the trade exhibition. Among them are key industry
players and principal conference sponsors Toro, Jacobsen, Syngenta, John Deere and Rain Bird who will join the likes of fellow AGCSA Partner Recognition
Programme companies Bayer, Brown Brothers Engineers, Country Club International, David Golf, Dint Golf Solutions, Everris, PGG Wrightson Turf and Simplot
Partners.
“Whether you’re a seasoned turf manager or an apprentice just entering the industry, the trade exhibition is the one event you can’t afford to miss,” says
Ms Staples.
